Insider trading doesn’t always have to be dull. Last week, Showtime hosted a premiere party for the second season of Billions at Cipriani Downtown, which is, appropriately located across the street from the Charging Bull statue.

Stars including Damien Lewis, Maggie Siff and Malin Ackerman walked the red carpet before taking in a screening of the premiere of the second season, which returned to Showtime on Sunday, February 19. A party fit for the likes of Bobby Axelrod followed, with attendees sipping Billions-inspired cocktails crafted with elit Vodka. The cast closed down the place. When was the last time an A-Lister stayed for more than an appearance?

Lewis, also of Homeland fame, had just touched down in New York, but he didn’t let jet lag get in the way with celebrating with his colleagues. Many enjoyed taking pictures in the photo booth at the end of the night.

Most New Yorkers know that the show is loosely based on the struggle between Preet Bharara, the U.S. District Attorney for the Southern District of New York, and Steven Cohen, hedge fund manager at his eponymous S.A.C. Capital. Cohen was charged with failing to prevent insider trading at S.A.C. Capital by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, eventually settling for $1.8 billion. It remains to be seen what’ll happen to Bobby “Axe” Axelrod in his fight with DA Charles “Chuck” Rhoades, Jr. (Paul Giamatti), but if Sunday’s show was any indication, it’ll be a smart, fast-talking ride.
